What is the North Carolina DWI Process?

Chad Brown Law is here to help you take the next steps in your case after you are charged with DWI. We want to help you to the best of our abilities. We evaluate cases on a case-by-case basis due to the many different types of punishments and factors that affect a DWI case. When you are facing a DWI charge, you need direction to help guide you through the long and often difficult process. Many people charged with DWI want to just discuss the possible punishments which range from Aggravated Level 1, the most severe which requires active jail time, through Level 5 which is the lowest level of punishment and almost never requires active jail time. However, it is important to start with all the details of your case, even the smallest. If you took a breath, blood, or urine test, your case will be different than if you refused all tests and were charged with DWI without any types of test results to use against you during the proceedings.

Evaluate Your Arrest Details

The proper starting point is to analyze all of your arrest details so we can help assess your situation and explain your options in light of the facts of your specific case. For example, having a high Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC), having children in the car while you were driving, or causing an accident with personal injury creates a different set of challenges than a check point DWI where there are no other aggravating factors.

Having Chad Brown Law analyze and evaluate your arrest details is a starting point to understanding better your options and developing the best possible strategy for representation.

Being unsure of what you need to do causes anxiety. DWI charges are very serious and need to be handled properly for the best possible outcome. Depending on the severity of your situation, even if it is your first offense, you can face incarceration, driver’s license suspension, ordered to have an ignition interlock device installed in your car, in addition to being required to complete substance abuse classes and an alcohol or drug counseling program. Being charged with DWI is never a small matter.
