Underage DWI

Did you know that most of the people killed in an alcohol-related crash include teenage drivers and passengers? Drivers under the age of 21 account for only about 10% of licensed drivers; however, according to the Foundation for Advanced Alcohol Responsibility, they account for 14% of DUI related fatalities in North Carolina. In North Carolina, it is against the law for those who are under the age of 21 to drive a motor vehicle on a public street, highway, or public parking lot after consuming any amount of alcohol or controlled substance. At Chad Brown Law, we have the experience and knowledge to represent clients accused of underage driving after consuming in North Carolina.

What Constitutes Driving While Impaired?

If a chemical or blood test shows that an underage driver has a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) of .01% or higher, the driver is subject to being charged with driving while impaired. If you are older than 21, the BAC is .08%. North Carolina is a Zero-Tolerance state, meaning it is illegal for any persons under the age of 21 to drive after consuming alcohol.
